What do I need?
I would like to say nothing except a positive attitude and commitment to work hard, but you may find that some other things come in handy:
Some free space if you intend on meeting at your home. You will need a clear area (8 x 8 feet) and hopefully one that your outstretched arms will not hit the ceiling. A garage works fine, if you feel comfortable there then so do we. Park space also works great, and if the weather permits it this should be your first choice. Remember the more room we have the better the cardio portion of your exercise session will be, as indoor activity will limit the options somewhat.
A good pair of jogging shoes. They will provide you with comfort and support during exercise and should not be overlooked, as your feet carry an incredible load, and improper footwear only transfers this load to your joints.
Pre-Workout Fuel. Water, lots of water. Have a full bottle (1 litre) ready to access during your workout. Try to drink 1-3 glasses 2 hours prior to workout. It is important to stay hydrated all day long. We also highly recommend eating a light snack at least one hour before to help fuel your body. If you are going on a road trip you need gas in the tank or you will not get very far. Well, it’s kind of the same concept with your body.
A yoga mat is a good idea as they provide stability and you will want something to lie on, especially if we are outdoors or in your garage. We do have extra mats, but for hygienic reasons we would suggest that you have your own. It is also something you may like to use when exercising on your own.
Have a towel handy, both for perspiration and to use for comfort as required
A stability/Swiss/balance/exercise ball. Regardless of what name it goes by this is a very useful piece of equipment. While we do sometimes throw one in the car, this is another item that we recommend you purchase, as there are different sizes and frankly they take up a lot of space in a vehicle so it is difficult to bring more than one. This is a very versatile item and well worth having at home. If you are not sure of what size you require just ask.
Exercise equipment. If you have any cardio equipment, hand weights, tubing or machines please let us know beforehand and we will try to incorporate them into your workouts so that you will be comfortable with it when exercising on your own.
If required, yoga mats and stability balls can be purchased from us ahead of time. Hand weights, tubing, and any other items we use that you would like to have for training on your own can also be purchased if you wish. Please contact us for more information.
