Faqs
- Why would I pay for a personal trainer?
This is a common and not unwarranted question. A qualified trainer can help guide you on how to safely, efficiently and effectively achieve your health & lifestyle goals. If you are new to exercise or unsure about what to do, they can teach you the proper and most efficient way to exercise. If you are experienced they can help you break through training plateaus and boredom. A trainer provides personalised customer service and convenience by working around your schedule, even coming to your home. They have experience with situations just like yours, and can provide you with support, motivation, knowledge and the expertise needed to get you on your way to a healthier lifestyle. How much do you invest every month to repair and operate your car? Why would you not invest in something much more valuable, yourself?
- Can I get in shape with one session per week?
Yes, but it all depends on what you are doing in between our sessions. We will give you a detailed description and images of the exercises so that you can do them on your own. Like most things in life, reward comes from effort and if you are doing nothing until we meet again then it is that much more difficult to see results. On the other hand, if you are working hard at the exercises on your own, then as you master them, we will be able to change them up more frequently to increase the degree of difficulty and keep you challenged
- I want to train with a friend but I am worried that it won’t work because we are at different fitness levels?
That should not matter unless one of you is starting out for the very first time and someone else is training for at a very high level or looking for a very specific workout. Regardless of levels we can increase and decrease difficulties for almost all the exercises, so you are doing the same exercises, just at different levels. The only time it becomes a problem is if you have very different goals in mind or very different strengths and weaknesses that need to be worked on.
- What if I need to cancel or re-schedule my appointment?
We understand that life is unpredictable and unavoidable circumstances come up suddenly. Our cancellation policy is under 24 hr notice and you will be charged for that session but we will try to arrange for a new meeting. We would appreciate more notice if possible and we can try to re-schedule to a different time.
- What if I am going to be late, or have to leave early?
Try to let us know ASAP, as most exercise programs are based on one hour duration and do follow a particular sequence, but they can be altered. If you can give notice then we may be able to start a bit earlier or stay slightly later to help give you full hour workout, but this is not always possible due to prior scheduling. If you are going to be late let us know. If we arrive on time with no contact and no person there, then policy is to first phone your contact numbers and then remains at the designated meeting place for 20 minutes. If we have still not heard from you at this point then the session is considered a no-show and payment is charged.
- Can you analyse my diet and give me a menu plan?
Yes and no. We can help guide you on the right nutritional path and help you make better food choices, but if you need something specific, or have any diet concerns, then we suggest you meet with a registered dietician for professional guidance.

Click here for equipment details. - What is circuit training and how is it different than other types of training?
Circuit training is something we like to use with our clients, as we feel it keeps you constantly moving and elevates your heart rate, creating a degree of difficulty to the workout. Some conventional weight training methods only work one body part at a time through a pattern or exercise, rest and repeat exercise, then proceed to another exercise. We like to pair up exercises of different body parts, for example you could go from a lower body exercise to an upper body exercise, or alternate between front and back exercises. Now instead of resting and repeating we might have you do a form of cardio in between or some core work. It is can be more difficult and also more time effective.
- Can I book a session longer than one hour in duration?
Yes you may, contact us and we can discuss this further.
- How do I guarantee a specific workout time slot?
If you know in advance that you are only available to exercise at a specific time slot, then we suggest you pre-book to guarantee that time slot.
- Why are there so many forms to fill out?
Simply put the more background information that we can gather on you health, past injuries, lifestyle and fitness history, the better prepared we can be to design you a safe and effective fitness program. This is combined with the results of your evaluation and assessment to make sure every program is unique and is reflected in the information that you provide us. Also you probably don’t want to pay to have us come to your house and talk and ask these same questions. If you do I will be right over.
- What do you do with all the information I provide?
What if I want to meet at my gym? This information goes in your customer file and is strictly confidential. It is only shared with your permission to other health professionals, for example you have injured your back and perhaps a doctor or physiotherapist wants to see what type of exercises you have been doing in the past to better diagnose your problem.
At this time we do not offer this service. Most gyms have their own qualified and paid staff and are either reluctant to, or will not allow outside trainers. Also in our past experience, those gyms that do allow for trainers charge a user fee that is ultimately passed on to the client, so this helps to keep your costs lower.
